Carousel pole handrail in innovative architectural twist
Revered interior architect and founder of architectural practice A.M.P Patrick McKinney specified Timeless’s twisted square tube as handrail for a brand new entertainment concept, Fairgame.
Based at London’s Canary Wharf, the adults-only venue brings all the fun of the fair using 'cutting-edge tech', with beautifully executed interior design to cater for the refined client base.
For the staircase handrails, McKinney’s innovative design featured Timeless Tube's unique 45x45mm twisted brass tube coupled with mild steel fairground barriers.
“When we first saw the architectural drawings featuring the elegant, highly polished carousel-pole style twisted brass set against the mild steel barriers seen at fairgrounds we were intrigued” says Timeless MD Tom McMillan. “To see Patrick McKinney’s vision actualised is very exciting - the juxtaposition of the two handrails is playful and works wonderfully.”
Timeless supplied the twisted brass poles in a mill finish so the fabricators could polish and lacquer the railings once they had been fully fabricated.
“In the past we have custom-made twisted brass for traditional fairground carousel poles. To see the same profile adopted in a contemporary architectural capacity is really fun.” adds McMillan.
Timeless form twisted square tubes in both stainless steel and brass. Clients can choose from a tight twist sometimes referred to as a barley twist, or a looser twist.
