Illuminated railings: recessed handrail lighting for style and safety

Commercial-grade LED lighting can be discreetly housed inside the channel, offering ambient lighting or direct task illuminance for interior and exterior settings. The LED strips can be used for wall-mounted or floor-mounted handrails, or fitted alongside architectural glazing or balustrade panels.

Timeless Tube work with an established international lighting designer who supplies bespoke LED lighting for our custom profiles. As a user you can control the lighting levels, colour temperatures and distribution of light. Bespoke casing can be made for exterior rails, compliant with IP66 ratings. Illuminance and uniformity levels are supplied in accordance with the requirements of BS12464. Contact us for more details

Forming, bending, joining and finishing: we work to your drawings

Most clients require the slots to fit industry-standard laminated tempered safety glass panels (typically ranging from 10mm - 21.5mm), to be used with a rubber gasket. We are happy to speak to your appointed glazing supplier or balustrade fabricator to ensure we're aware of the critical dimensions and tolerances.

Laser-cut custom end-caps to fit the chosen profile can be welded to the tube ends by our experienced fabricators for an exceptional finish.

Supply us with drawings or sketches and we will assess what is achievable for your chosen tube shape and size. We suggest prototyping slotted tube for substantial projects (especially when a new size or extensive bending is required).

"Architects and balustrade manufacturers are no longer tied to using conventional slotted round tube for balustrades, staircases and walkways.  Timeless Tube can fabricate slots in an expansive range of profiles and sizes."

The advantages of
non-circular slotted handrails

Railings made from non-circular geometries such as flat-sided oval and D-shape have a useful flattened underside for accommodating architectural glazing and panels, LED lights and cabling.

Ovalised, squared and D-shaped handrails have an aesthetic edge over standard off-the-shelf round slotted profiles, plus they are proven to be more graspable than circular handrails in ergonomic tests.

Slotted tube materials and finishes

Timeless Tube fabricators can form and fabricate custom slotted tube from stainless steel 304 / 304L (1.4301) and stainless steel 316L (1.404).

Robust and easy-to-maintain, stainless steel slotted handrail is available in various mirrored polishes and grained (brushed) finishes. We can also manufacture slotted handrail from brass CZ108.

If you plan to powder coat your railings, we can also manufacture slotted tube profiles from aluminium and mild steel.
