Other Profiles

Whether you need a brand new custom tube profile or a variation of an existing shape, our specialist tubing engineers can manufacture bespoke tube geometries using our unique cold-forming process.

We may need to make new tooling to form your new profile, or it may be possible for us to recalibrate existing tooling from our workshop. Send us a sketch or speak to our team and we will guide you through what is possible.

Flat-sided teardrop tube

Flat-sided teardrop tubing blends sculptural elegance with well-considered ergonomics.

Our flat-sided teardrop tube (134 x 56 x 3mm) was specified for a wide balustrade rail running alongside Chelsea Embankment in London. Its gently curved edge and large flattened side provided a comfortable rest for users to lean against to observe the view of the River Thames. Made from stainless steel with a brass-effect coating, this robust profile was made to withstand weathering.

The flattened surfaces of this modified teardrop tube introduce structural rigidity and allow for discreet integration with fittings or glazing systems, making it an ideal choice for contemporary architectural applications where strength and design finesse must coexist.

A flat-sided teardrop sits between a teardrop tube and an aerofoil tube in design and performance. If you are seeking a symmetrical teardrop tube or an aerofoil tube then speak to our team about your required design.

Loaf-shape tube

Traditionally crafted from timber for use as handrail, our loaf-shaped profile has a rounded top offering an ergonomic grip. Timeless Tube produced a 50 x 40mm loaf-shape profile in stainless steel for a bespoke architectural project that required the strength, corrosion resistance and low maintenance of stainless steel while emulating this distinct joinery style. A compelling option for architectural handrail and balustrades, this profile can be slotted to accommodate glazing, lighting and other architectural panels.

Loaf-style tubes are made by reforming our D-shaped tubes (some testing will be initially required to ascertain the rolling required). The sizes available for D-shaped tubes will give you an indication of the size of loaf-style we can form.

Loaf-style tube profile for use as handrail: nick-named 'The Hovis' due to its resemblance to the iconic British brand of bread

New tooling was developed to cold-form these hexagonal tubes

Hexagonal tube

Hexagon-shaped profiles is a distinctive choice for architectural and furniture design projects. Our engineers can form this profile from stainless steel or brass, in a range of different finishes.

Six-sided tubing can provide superior stability under load, making hex tubes ideal for mechanical and structural applications. The flat faces aid fabrication; they are both easier to align than circular profiles, and easier to weld to other components. The six sides offer resistance to rotation.

When used in construction, automotive, aerospace, and manufacturing industries, hexagonal tubes deliver excellent strength-to-weight ratios and efficient heat or pressure distribution.

Cruciform tube

Choose between a twisted cruciform or a straight cruciform for this profile. Sometimes referred to as starform tube, we can develop tooling to produce a clean, symmetrical star-shaped tube with finely radiused points. While this attractive profile can be used for decorative applications, the distinctive cross-shaped tube maximises surface area while maintaining excellent structural integrity, making it a useful profile for mechanical and heat transfer applications.

Variations on existing profiles

What existing Timeless Tube tube profiles can be modified?

We will consider any request that we receive. Past examples include ultra-flat flat-sided oval tubes, slim D-shaped tubes with a prominent recess and twisted tubes that switch between clockwise and anticlockwise twists at irregular intervals. We have also been asked to laser-cut sections out of the tubes for handrail and lighting projects. These are all variations on our existing geometries. Oval tubes (elliptical) and flat-sided oval tubes are available in a huge range of sizes: we have greater scope to modify these shapes than profiles such as D-shaped tube and radiused square tube.

Will new tooling be required to modify profiles?

Again, this depends upon what is being asked. If the modifications are minor then we may be able to recalibrate our machine settings to make your modified tube shape. But we may need to develop new tooling. Our engineers are extremely resourceful and creative, so we will always search for the most cost-effective solution.

Is there a minimum order quantity?

We have a minimum order quantity of just 1 length (typically 5.7 - 5.8m), which is useful if you are prototyping. We are often able to recalibrate machine settings or modify the tooling, should you require us to alter the dimensions of the tubing during prototyping.
